Oscar nominated actor, Bob Hoskins goes in search of his childhood passion Tigers. From the depths of the jungles of South East Asia to the heat of the Indian sub-continent, Hoskins tracks down the Tiger and the myth behind this majestic creature.

Once considered a conservation success story, tigers are again on the critical list and could be extinct in just 10 years. It appears that only in captivity have these creatures survived in significant numbers.

The Tiger's mystique has fuelled a trade that has brought the species to the brink of extinction. For thousands of years, tigers parts are said to have healed the sick and the dying. Hundreds of dollars change hands for a dose of tiger based medicine.

Ironically this animal's demise could be detrimental to the very cultures that are exploiting them. 'If we lose the tiger,' says Hoskins 'We'll lose more than just the greatest predator on earth, we'll lose the meaning to so many cultures'.
